Medical insurance often conjures stereotypes. Some are earned; some are misperceived. MotivHealth has innovatively risen above the typical insurance stereotypes, but we understand that these generalizations can cause new members to feel a little wary. Below are five of the most common misconceptions about MotivHealth and the truths that debunk them.
1. High Price = High Quality
Retailers often sell the exact same items for vastly different prices. For instance, a high-end store might sell a pair of name-brand designer shoes for $200, while a discounted department store sells the same shoes (unused and in perfect condition) for $50. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone that would be willing to pay the full $200 when the store down the road is selling the same shoes for 75% less. Even so, most people are paying unnecessarily high prices for healthcare when other equally qualified professionals offer the same services for a much lower cost.
At MotivHealth we pride ourselves on our ability to save members money on health costs without compromising the quality of care. MotivHealth is contracted with board-certified doctors and facilities that offer high-quality care at reasonable prices. Our Price Transparency Tool, located in the Member Portal, allows members to compare the various costs of a procedure before deciding on a doctor. Similarly, the MotivRx program allows members to access prescription medications at lower costs. The healthcare market wants you to believe you have no choice but to drain your wallet in order to stay healthy, but that really doesn’t have to be the case.
2. Your Poor Healthcare Choices Benefit MotivHealth
You’re probably thinking, “Well of course Motivhealth wants to lower my costs on healthcare. That just leaves more money in their pockets.” The fact of the matter is that our success is your success. When we save, you save because we share our savings back with you. We have even provided an extensive training program, MotivU (accessible in the Member Portal), that helps members become the smartest consumers of healthcare they can possibly be. So no, your poor healthcare choices do not benefit Motivhealth—your smart choices benefit both MotivHealth and you.
3. MotivHealth Dictates Where Members Get Their Care
MotivHealth encourages members to seek care from our board-certified providers without needing to unnecessarily overspend on healthcare. If you call MotivHealth, or use our Price Transparency Tool, you’ll find you have options. We’ve even contracted with board-certified doctors and facilities to provide discounted prices on procedures. Members should be able to see all options for care before settling on one, even if they end up settling on the highest cost for a procedure. We put healthcare into our members’ hands. Our role is to educate members, then grant them the power of choice. Simple.
4. High Deductible Health Plans Only Benefit the Healthy
Motivhealth’s primary goal is to lower the cost of healthcare. Lowering the cost of healthcare certainly benefits the healthy and unhealthy alike. Our two-part health insurance includes a health savings account. Not only can your HSA funds be used toward your deductible, but the savings roll over from year to year. These savings benefit the chronically ill much more than a typical “use-it-or-lose-it” policy would. HSA expert Bill Stuart says, “Sometimes, even when you have a chronic condition, the out-of-pocket maximum on a health savings account program is actually lower than the affordable care act (ACA) maximum.” MotivHealth even has a Diabetes Patient Care Program that helps members lower their costs on insulin and offers free testing, among other programs that help save on medications. Members can also earn money towards their HSAs on the daily with MotivHealth’s Steps Program.
5. We Don’t Want to Help You
Have you ever heard of an insurance company that wants you to call them? Believe it or not, MotivHealth loves receiving your calls. We realize that there are some questions that just need to be answered by a real person in real-time. That’s why our personal health assistants are available 24/7/365. That level of availability is impossible to beat, and we wouldn’t offer it if we didn’t enjoy helping our members. So go ahead and give us a call at (844) 234-4472.
