By now, we almost all know some best practices we should follow to help stop the spread of Coronavirus and other illnesses, but what additional measures should you be taking?

Below are some simple yet effective ways you can protect yourself and your loved ones and help stop the spread of COVID-19.

1. It’s in Your Hands

Stopping the spread of COVID-19 is in your hands; literally. It can’t be said enough how important it is to frequently wash your hands. When washing your hands, the CDC recommends washing with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds. If using hand sanitizer, be sure to use one with at least 60% alcohol. Equally important, you should avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

2. Maintain Your Distance

As a social species, social-distancing isn’t easy. However, it is necessary when preventing the spread of viruses such as COVID-19. The CDC recommends staying at least 6 feet away from others, not gathering in groups, and avoiding crowded places. When possible, you should remain at home.

3. Clean Frequently Touched Surfaces

Another way you can help stop the spread of Coronavirus is by cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces like door handles and countertops. This tip may seem like common sense, but there are a few surfaces you don’t realize are a harbor for germs like your cellphone. Be sure to wipe down frequently touched surfaces, including your phone, with disinfectant wipes. The CDC recommends using a common EPA-registered household disinfectant to clean surfaces. Washing your hands often will ensure these surfaces stay relatively germ-free.

4. Wear a Facemask Around Others

The CDC, as of April 13, has stated that the use of masks can help reduce and slow the spread of Coronavirus. While facemasks should be preserved for those on the frontlines and some can work better than others, such as healthcare workers, there are some simple tutorials you can follow to make cloth masks for you and loved ones at home.
